Nigeria: Vigilante Coordinator Promises Crime-Free Anambra

Onitsha — With training in weapons-handling and intelligence gathering, the Anambra Vigilante Service is now poised to give criminals a tough time and reduce the rate of crime in the state, according to its coordinator in the state, Chief Kenneth Okonkwo.

Okonkwo said at the passing out of the first batch of professionally trained state vigilante members at Ekwueme square, Awka at the weekend that the training became necessary because of "the activities of criminally-minded individuals in the state and the complex nature of the operations and activities of criminals who now constitute a serious threat to lives and property of Ndi Anambra".
