Nigeria: Fracas in House of Reps

Abuja / Kaduna — A free-for-all broke in the House of Representatives when a motion was presented for the suspension of members opposed to the speaker yesterday, leaving a lawmaker with a broken arm and several others with bruises and torn dresses.

Eleven members calling themselves 'The Progressives', who had been advocating for the removal of speaker Dimeji Bankole over alleged inflation of contracts and high-handedness, were suspended till June 11 next year for "embarrassing" the House.
