Nigeria: Kainji Dam - FG, West Bank to Build New Turbines

Abuja — As part of efforts at ensuring improved and sustainable power supply in the country, the Federal Government has said it is discussing with the World Bank and other parties on the modalities for their intervention to fast track the possibilities of additional turbines to Kainji to boost its productive capacity.

In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Greyne Anosike, the Minister said while on inspection of the facilities at the hydro electric power station in Kainji in Niger state that Kainji dam is due not only for overhaul but need additional turbines to promote additional output after 25 years of uninterrupted performance.
