However, Tunisia's shock loss to Mozambique, followed by Nigeria's second-leg, last-minute win over Mozambique, gave the Eagles a sliver of hope.
To qualify, the Nigerians had to come from behind, twice, to beat Kenya 3-2 in Nairobi and clinch their finals ticket.
