Nigeria: Sokoto Assembly Sacks Clerk Over N1 Billion Agric Loan

Sokoto — Sokoto State House of Assembly (SHA) has sacked the clerk of the house, Alhaji Muhammadu Mainasara Ahmad, for ordering journalists not to air the deliberations for the approval of N1 billion agric loan from Fidelity Bank of Nigeria Plc, secured under the FGN/CBN Commercial Agriculture Credit Scheme (CACS) programme by the state government for distribution in the state.

Ahmad, who admitted issuing the order, said he did so in good faith, and in the interest of both government and the legislature, stressing that it would send wrong signal to farmers in the state.
