Nigeria: Retired Supreme Court Justice Slams Corruption Commissions

Lagos — Retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice George Oguntade, yesterday alleged that the establishment of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is aiding corruption and advocated the need to strengthen the Police as against the existence of the anti-graft agencies.

Oguntade made this submission yesterday while delivering a lecture entitled: "The Rule of Law and National Development," in commemoration of the fifth memorial anniversary of the former National Chairman of the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC), Dr. Hammed Kusamotu, in Lagos.
