Nigeria: Anambra Governor Donates to Schools

Lagos — Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi has donated N2.5 million each to St. Raphael Secondary School, Awkuzu and Marist Comprehensive Secondary School, Nteje as part of effort to improve infrastructure and provide conducive learning environment in the schools.

Obi, who presented the cheques during a visit to the schools, recently, advised the students to take their education seriously, saying that since education remained one of his administration's priorities, he would not relent in his effort to support the sector, which he described as "the passport for tomorrow's competition."

The Principal of Marist Comprehensive College, Rev. Okey Anochie, who described Obi's victory at the polls as victory for democracy, good governance, truth and honesty, said: "When special people touch our lives, they teach us how to live. Thank you for being special, thank you for touching our lives. Thank you for teaching us how to live."

He commended Obi's disposition and urged him to continue to transform the state through Anambra Integrated Development Strategy (ANIDS).

Principal of St. Raphael Secondary Schools, Mr. Mike Okoye commended Governor Obi for the gesture and his humility saying that he was the first governor in Anambra State that had been visiting schools, adding that he recognised that the young ones are the future of the society.

Speaking on the visits to schools, a politician in Oyi Local Government Area, noted that Governor Obi had elevated education to a pride of place as a critical sector for sustainable development.
