Tunis — On Tuesday, Tunisia signed a loan and guarantee agreement with the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) for financing the second extension of the Sousse power station at an estimated cost of 540 million Tunisian dinars.
[1]The project which aims at boosting the national capacities in the electrical production sector and meet the market's rising demand in electricity was signed by Mr. Mohamed Nouri Jouini, Minister of Development and International Co-operation and Mr. Abdellatif Youssef al Hamad, Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) General Manager and Board of Directors' Chairman.
Mr. Abdellatif Youssef al Hamad hailed Tunisia's progress in the comprehensive development sector thanks to the wise policies and orientations initiated by President Ben Ali.
"This agreement is a new landmark on the path of boosting the AFESD and Tunisia's partnership", said Mr. Abdellatif Youssef al Hamad who added that AFESD is "today ready to pursue its action to back up the development work and contribute to the achievement of projects in Tunisia".
