Angola: At Least 10 Athletes Summoned for CPLP Games

Luanda — At least 10 athletes of the national males and female teams were summoned in order to represent the country in the games of the 7th edition of the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community (CPLP), set for 27 July to 7 August in Maputo, Mozambique, ANGOP learnt from an official source.

According to a press note from the Angolan Athletics Federation (FAA), which reached ANGOP, the Angolan squad will be coached by Mário Capoco and the team will be comprised by four males athletes and six female ones.

The summoned athletes are: Bartolomeu Moisés (100 metres), Nelson Reis (800 m), João Paquete (200 m) and Ofélio Nené (1500 m) integrate the males group, while Maria Calhanguila (100 m), Domingas Chiaca (400 m), Florinda Capoco (1500 m), Luísa Manuel (100 m) and Lúcia Francisco (200 m) comprised the females category.

The Angolan delegation, which is comprised by 114 people, among coaches, athletes and federation officials, will leave Luanda for Maputo on July 27.

These games, to happen under the motto "A community, a language, a sea full of culture" and the opening and closing ceremonies, will take place in Maxaquene pavilion.

The competition will gather sports such as handball, athletics, basketball, football tennis and beach volleyball, besides sport for disabled people.
