Nigeria: Athletes Finish World Junior Campaign On Silvery Note

Nigerian athletes to the IAAF world junior championships in Moncton, Canada are expected back in the country Wednesday after winning three silver medals at the meet.

Margaret Etim started the silver rush when she won the silver in the women 400m. It was a race she was highly favoured to win, having ran the fastest time in the semi-final. She was placed second with 53.05 compared to Bahama's Shunae Miller who won the gold with 52.52 seconds.

The men's 4Ã-400m raked in another silver on the final day running 3.06. 36 setting a national junior record in the process. The USA took the gold, while Jamaica took the bronze.

The USA women also denied Nigeria gold in the women race.

However, the Nigerian quartet anchored by Etim held off the challenge from Bahamas and Jamaica to finish 3.31 84, they also set a new national junior record in the event.
