Abeokuta — Six major water plants constructed by the Ogun State government would soon be commissioned, the state Commissioner for Water Resources and Rural Development Akogun Kola Onadipe has said. The commissioner, who spoke at a stakeholders' workshop on water and sanitation policy in Abeokuta, assured that the six major water works, which would soon be commissioned will serve the people for the next 20 years.

He said the water facilities in the state, at the inception of the present administration were in deplorable conditions, but that the government intervened through capacity building, reconstitution of the management of the corporation, rehabilitation to rescue the situation and provision of equipment.

"Several extensions and pipe replacement projects have been executed in Abeokuta and other parts of the state. Also to ensure adequate power supply in the state, we have commenced the installation of the low speed mini-power plants," he added.
