Tanzania: Ngorongoro Heroes Enter Camp in Top Gear

Dar es Salaam — THE assistant coach of the national Under-20 soccer team, Adolf Rishard, has Ngorongoro Heroes move into residential camp on Thursday in high spirits ahead of their return leg encounter of the Africa youth championship against Ivory Coast next month.

Speaking shortly after the team arrival on Tuesday from Ivory Coast where Ngorongoro Heroes lost 0-1 to host last Sunday, Rishard said Tanzania has all the reasons, means and will to win the return leg match.

He commended his players for their consistency in responding to instructions, an aspect which he said gave their Ivorian counterparts a run for their money as it was not easy for them to score many goals.

The former international midfielder asked for strong public support during the second encounter in Dar es Salaam in a fortnight's time, saying their quest to advancing to the final round of the Africa youth qualifiers was every Tanzanian's wish.

Ngorongoro Heroes need to score two clear goals in the return leg match to be played in Dar es Salaam on August 7 to advance to the second round to face Gambia or Sierra Leone.

Rishard said Ivory Coast is a good side which is well equipped in all departments, cautioning that concrete technical strategies to outsmarting them and qualify for the next stage was paramount.

The team's head coach, Rodrigo Stockler is expected to opt offensive tactics in the much awaited second leg match and coax his boys into capitalizing on the opponent's mistakes.

Stockler respects that junior elephants of Ivory Coast who are more composed when they have possession, however, he knows their soft spot is poor marking and panic easily when dispossessed.

"They lack marking skills and generally their team work is not the best in town and they commit a lot of mistakes along the way. We have to utilize these weaknesses to achieve our objectives", said Stockler.

He said his boys played well tactically and according to the game plan as they knew that the hosts were going to start strongly from the word go.

"They created a number of chances but our defence was resolute. This is what you need the boys to do, and they did it properly," expressed Rodrigo.
