Namibia: Erongo Red Extends Helping Hand

Walvis Bay — Erongo RED recently donated 144 cans of fish to the Erongo Regional Council in the Walvis Bay Rural Constituency, following a plea from families made destitute by shack fires.

The food was handed over by Erongo RED Chief Executive Officer, Gerhard Coeln, to the Councillor of Walvis Bay Rural Constituency, John Nangolo, and its Chief Regional Officer, Linus //Garoëb.

Nangolo thanked Erongo Red for their generous gesture and commitment to the community. "We are thankful and want to have as much as we can in our reserve so that we just take from there and hand over to the needy, rather than to start appealing from scratch again," Councillor Nangolo said.

Gerhard Coeln, in turn stressed Erongo RED's dedication to the greater Erongo Region and said: "Not only do we promise our best in terms of delivery of services and products but also every effort for best pricing. We also pledge our support to the community at large and hope to make an impact in our region in terms of service deli-very, as well as donations, sponsorships and corporate social investment."

The chief regional officer said a motion has been passed to establish a regional emergency fund aimed at assisting people during hard times.
