Luanda — The president of Cape Verde, Pedro Rodrigues Pires, stopped over in Luanda on Tuesday evening, on transit to his country, after attending the 15th African Union Summit, held from July 19-27, in Kampala, Uganda.
The meeting that went under the theme "Maternal, Infant and Child Health and Development in Africa", gathered more than 40 heads of State and Government, including the UN secretary general, Ban Ki-Moon.
Among other issues, the meeting analysed matters concerning the political, economic and social situation prevailing in the continent and the conflicts in some regions.
The Cape Verdean president was welcomed at Luanda's "4 de Fevereiro" international Airport by Angola minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheiries, Afonso Pedro Canga.
