Kenya: Passing New Law to 'Attract Direct Investment'

Nairobi — Passing a new constitution will attract foreign investment in the country, Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka has said.

A new constitutional dispensation will also ensure that Kenyans continue enjoying peace and stability as well as freedom of expression.

Passing the new constitution would also be the most important reform initiative of the grand coalition government.

The Vice President made the remarks at his Jogoo House office on Wednesday when he received the United Kingdom minister for Africa, Mr Henry Bellingham.

"I want to assure you that we are keen and committed to giving Kenyans a new constitution that will unite the people of this country," said Mr Musyoka.

Mr Bellingham praised Kenya's conduct of the referendum campaigns, adding that if the new constitution is passed, it will attract foreign direct investment and goodwill.

Present at the function were British High Commissioner to Kenya Rob Macaire, among others.
