Rwanda/Swaziland: U-19s Humiliate Swaziland

Kigali — RWANDA shook off Tuesday's defeat against Nigeria by trouncing hosts Swaziland yesterday in the ICC Africa U19 Division 2 World Cup qualifiers.

The team registered a five-wicket victory to get back into the race for that lone slot into the final qualifying round.

Having lost the toss, Rwanda was put in to field but that did not deter the bowlers from limiting the hosts to 92 runs at Sisekelo high school in Big Bend.

Desire Manirambona was the peak of the bowling attack with three wickets while Evode Mutuyimana and Audifax Byiringiro picked two wickets a piece.

The youngsters then chased down the score in 21.5 overs with a healthy five wickets in hand. Mutuyimana top scored with 25 runs while Derrick Bayingana added a valuable 19 to hand the team a comfortable victory.

Rwanda returns to action this morning against Gambia. While Rwanda has never lost to Gambia in an international tournament, team manager Eddie Balaba does not expect a straight forward victory.

"Going by their opening two games, Gambia look to be a very improved side so we have to stay on our toes," he warned.

Swaziland 92/10 in 24.2 overs

Rwanda 93/5 in 21.5 overs

Rwanda won by 5 wkts
