Ondjiva — The Maiombe Environmental Network will develop as from August a feasibility study on environmental impact, due to the floods that hit the southern Cunene Province for three consecutive years.
This was said on Wednesday in Ondjiva City, by the chairman of the referred network, Januário Augusto.
According to him, the project is part of the programme of the organisation which is aimed at gathering information on the current state of the biodiversity in the region and identifying human and material losses.
Januário Augusto said that to materialise the project, meetings are being held with the local government in order to discuss all technical aspects for its success.
According him, the study is one way to help the authorities to adopt some specific measures in assisting the government's actions and reduce the effects of floods in Cunene.
The Maiombe Environmental Network is a forum that brings environmental NGOs together, aimed at preserving the environment and improve people's quality of life, as well as the conservation and recovery of the ecosystems.
The network was founded on 31 January 2001.
