Gambia: New Eden Church Youths Sensitised On HIV/Aids, Others

The youths of the New Eden Church on Saturday organised a day-long sensitisation forum on HIV/AIDS and other common diseases that are causes for concern to the health sector, at the New Eden Church at London Corner, Serrekunda.

The training which is part of the Church's week-long activities is meant to equip the participants with a better understanding of the causes ad preventive measures of HIV/ AIDS.Amadou Barrow, a senior public health officer at the Serrekunda Health Centre and facilitator of the training, exposed the participants to many issues relating to HIV/Aids. He delved into the causes, preventive measures, as well the consequences attached to the HIV virus.

Speaking to this reporter shortly after the training session, Deacon Emmanuel Omorodion, the Church's youth leader, described young people as the most vulnerable to the HIV virus. He said with the training, they are better prepared to prevent themselves from the viruses.

According to him, the session is part of series of activities implemented by the youths of the Church; such as Bible quiz, drama, songs, among others. He finally thanked Dr. Barrow for the good lecture and the participants for their attention.
