PREMIER league club Black Africa officially presented midfielders Bradley Wermann and Rudi Louw as their new signings for the 2010/11 season at the club's offices yesterday.
The duo have been signed to add guile and creativity to a BA engine room already boasting the talents of Brian Bantam and Willy Stephanus, and are the only signings the club will make, club coach Ricardo Manetti told The Namibian Sport. "I'm' done," Mannetti said at the low-key media briefing when asked if he planned to reinforce his squad with more signings.
"Unless there is some injury to a player then we will look for someone to fill that place." Wermann (24), like his coach, arrived from cross-town rivals and beaten Leo NFA Cup finalist's Civics on a free transfer. Having endured a turbulent time with his former employers, the fleet-footed ball player aims to collect plenty of silverware in the next two seasons at his new home.
"I joined the team because it wants to win," said Wermann, who has only ever won the NFA Cup in his time with Civics and at Ramblers. "I'm looking for a new challenge. I'm not here for a joyride." Fellow new signing, Louw, joins his childhood club from double league and cup winners African Stars for an undisclosed fee.
Louw, 26, had an equally heated relationship with his former club, having threatened to walk out on them over claims of unpaid bonuses last season. However, he brings with him a wealth of experience to the relatively youthful BA side, having won the league a record seven times with four different outfits.
"I can't say I'm gonna win the league but with the team we have, we can get medals," Louw said of his new club's chances of reclaiming the tag of domestic 'cup kings'. Both players were in Angola looking for greener pastures at the close of the previous season. However, prospective moves to one of Africa's better-paid leagues did not materialise.
