Namibia: Annual Sports Event at Otjiwarongo Sponsored

FNB Namibia has sponsored the annual sports event of the Educate Academy at Otjiwarongo to the tune of N$25 000.

This is the second year in a row that FNB Namibia supports this occasion. Louw Durand, Manager of FNB Otjiwarongo, says the event is a gathering of all private schools interested in competing in netball and rugby.

"FNB Namibia and the Otjiwarongo branch of the bank are proud to be the main sponsor of the event, as it not only is one of the most important sport gatherings at this northern town but also once again reinforces our commitment to sport in the country and especially sport that involves our young people," he said.

The sponsorship amount is used for advertising and marketing, clothing for the marshals as well as other small operational costs. Thirteen schools from various regions have entered, including renowned school sports performers Tsumeb Gymnasium, Walvis Bay, Windhoek High School, Windhoek Gymnasium and Narraville.

"This is two schools more than last year and we are extremely excited to see the growth in the event. Altogether we will be 92 teams, 112 games will be held and 1 000 children will participate," Durand said. The annual Educate Academy sport event will take place tomorrow from 07h00 to 17h00 at Paresis Park.
