Dar Es Salaam — SIMBA Sports Club has appointed Milovan Cirkovic from Serbia its new coach to replace Zambian tactician Patrick Phiri whom the Msimbazi street side has asked to resign in order to seal the split-up.
Simba's secretary General Evodius Mtawala said in Dar es Salaam on Thursday that they have duly informed Phiri to tender his resignation letter or else face any consequences that may occur.
"Phiri has failed to honour our contract agreement therefore he has to tender his resignation to officially terminate his services with Simba. "His contract expires in three months time therefore he is still bound with us but his resignation letter would free him from the contract", said Mtawala.
The Simba secretary general reitariated the club's stand that they have decided to part ways with Phiri after failing to report for duty after going back home for holidays after the Kagame cup last March. "We believe coach Phiri is an understanding man and he will acciord us due cooperation in this matter", said Mtawala.
Mtawala said their new coach is expected to jet in any time to start his two-year tenure, with Syllesaid Mziray, Selemani Matola and Amri Saidi assisting him at the technical bench. Milovan had a brief stint at Simba several years back when he replaced Nielsen Elias from Brazil who spent only two months in the country before disappearing into thin air without explanation.
The new coach is expected to watch his boys play Express FC from Uganda in a friendly international to be held at the Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam as part of celebrations to mark Simba Day on August 8 this year.
