DareEs Salaam — THE Tanzania Sports Writers Association (TASWA) Football Club on Thursday received 4, 875,000/- from the Tanzania Breweries Limited to enable its team take part in the forth coming sports bonanza for journalists in Arusha.
TBL's public relations manager Edith Mushi said the money was part of the company's social responsibility packages and that journalists were an integral part of the society to deserve it.
Mushi said apart from helping the society TBL also strove to improving good relations with journalists whose contribution towards national development was immense.
"We value and appreciate your contribution towards national development and the pivotal role you play in the society.
"Your practical involvement in football is highly commended as it shows that you too as human beings can actively participate in other things sports included", said Mushi, before handing over the money.
TASWA FC's Chairman Majuto Omary thanked TBL for the donation, saying it was timely because it would invigorate them to defend their title.
"The donation is a great consolation for TASWA and we pledge nothing short of winning the trophy so as not to let you down", said Omary.
Omary said TBL was one of the few corporate that appreciated the importance of mass media, hence its constant commitment towards supporting journalists.
"We had already despaired after having all doors that we knocked asking for financial assistance closed in our faces until TBL came to our rescue", said the TASWA Sports club boss.
