The Youth Care Foundation (YCF) will be organising a summer Mathematics programme which is slated for August 10th to September 10th 2010.The Summer Mathematics Programme is a programme set aside by the Youth Care Foundation to help in the development of youth's career in Mathematics.

The management and staff of the Youth Care Foundation wish to inform you of their up-coming "Summer Mathematics Programme" which is slated for August 10th to September 10th 2010. The theme of this year's summer mathematics programme is "Discovery: Think deeply of little things". This Summer Mathematics programme is not the first time in the YCF calendar, several other kinds have been conducted but this time it came with a different style.
The Summer Mathematics Programme is a programme set aside by the Youth Care Foundation to help in the development of youth's career in Mathematics. Fully knowing that the background of the Gambian youth's mathematics is a little low, the centre in its efforts is trying to contribute for its betterment by implementing this programme.
Known as the centre of science and mathematics, the Youth Care Foundation through the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has a targetted list of nineteen schools that will benefit from this programme which is sponsored by Coca-Cola and DHL.
A volunteer will be sent to each school to assist schools in teaching mathematics students of both Grades nine and twelve during the summer classes and this volunteer will also be taken care of by the Youth Care Foundation.
Part of the volunteers are discovered mathematicians from the last year's; Great Olympiad Mathematics competition who are also ex- WAEC candidates; these volunteers will be taking some of the junior schools. The others are teachers in various schools and also students from the University of The Gambia Science Club who will be also volunteering under the Youth Care Foundation.
The list of targeted schools were ten in region one but the Youth Care Foundation seeing the need in improving its target for more to benefit has added extra nine schools.Part of the duties of the volunteers are to form Maths Clubs in the schools. An awareness creation from Tallinding to Red Cross building will be conducted on the 9th August whereby each school will be represented in the match pass.
Some of the schools that will be benefiting from the programme are Greater Banjul Upper Basic School, St. Augustine Upper Basic School, Muslim Senior Secondary School, Nursat Senior Secondary School, Gambia Senior Secondary School, St. Joseph Senior Secondary School, Kotu Senior Secondary and many others.
The YCF wishes to thank its sponsors the Coca-Cola through its country Manager Mr. Seth Adu - Baah and also the DHL through its Managing Director Mrs. Ndioro Ndoye Sene, as well as the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education for their support in this laudable initiative. The volunteers will be later awarded by the Youth Care Foundation.9
