Angola: Luanda Customers Owe Power Supplier Akz 1.0 Billion

Luanda — Over Akz 1.0 billion is the amount owed by customers of Luanda's Electricity Supplying Company (EDEL), corresponding to consumption backdated to 2002, Angop learaned.

Speaking to Angop on Friday, EDEL's director, António Felex Handanga, explained that the amount is owed by low-voltage consumers and State-owned and privately-run businesses. According to the official, a committee has been appointed to recover the money, as some debtors have already been notified for the purpose.

According to António Handango admitted the possibility of legal action against those who fail to pay.
