Namibia: Arrows Will Be Minus Andimba

Windhoek — Arrows will be without regular front-man Sheya Andimba when the coastal team play Kaizer Chiefs tomorrow at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.

The striker was injured two weeks ago during a friendly preparatory training match at Walvis Bay for the upcoming encounter.

But, said Eleven Arrows coach Johannes 'Congo' Hindjou: "Despite the setback my charges are ready. "We started preparing for this match since the 5th of this month and in a way it was also our preparation for the new campaign." Hindjou, a former Brave Warriors midfielder, sounded a stern warning to Chiefs not to underestimate his troops.

"They must not come here to Namibia and think they will walk all over us, we are going to give them a tough match." Arrows are often viewed as the great under-achievers in domestic football, and this perception, said Hindjou, should be done away with.

"We want to win the league, that is on top of our priority list this season. Winning cups too, but the league is of utmost importance. JJD has put in a lot of money at Arrows and we want to see a smile on his face. That we must do by winning the league.

"As a player during my time, lifting a league trophy was all we wanted - and the respect that comes with it," said Hindjou.

During last season's campaign, he said, the team played good football "but only fell short through our lack of finishing". Hopefully, the team is now looking beyond the borders for new players to beef up its attacking formation.

"Maybe one or two strikers and a midfielder to strengthen the attacks and scoring ability of the team," said Hindjou. Eleven Arrows arrived yesterday in the capital.

Meanwhile, sponsors of the match between Chiefs and Arrows, Hollard Namibia and Standard Bank Namibia, have announced an open training session for the public today.

Fans can watch Kaizer Chiefs train, interact with the players and have autographs signed, while merchandise and membership application forms will be available at the training ground. The match kicks off at 15h30 tomorrow at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Katutura. Ticket prices are N$40 for the open stand and N$300 for VIP seats.
