Eritrea: Development Projects in Nacfa Continue to Gain Momentum

Nacfa — Development projects in 2010, including the construction of schools, renovation of roads, as well as soil and water conservation in Nacfa sub-zone continue to gain momentum, Mr. Desie Zemichael, head of Administration and Finance in the sub-zone, disclosed.

Pointing out that the previously existing social problems in the area are being alleviated thanks to the expansion of service-rendering institutions, he indicated that the construction of new schools in four villages is underway. Mr. Desie also explained that the construction of new boarding facilities for students and teachers at Tabra Boarding School is in progress.

Likewise, 65 km.-long road connecting Nacfa and Rora Habab has been renovated through popular participation of the inhabitants. Moreover, the Nacfa-Afabet road has been renovated with the participation of students from Tsabra and Wina. About 83,000 seedlings have been made ready for planting by the participants of the Summer Work Program.

Mr. Desie went on to explain that farming communities in the area are currently engaged in plowing about 860 hectares through tractors in a bid to augment agricultural output. Moreover, animal vaccination program is being carried out effectively.
