Gambia: Man Gets Five-Year Jail Term for Manslaughter

Justice Joseph E. Ikpala of the Special Criminal Court in Banjul, last Friday, 30th July 2010 convicted and sentenced one Dawda Bah alias Yanka of Perseverance Street in Banjul to five years imprisonment after he was found guilty of the offence of manslaughter.

The said Dawda Bah was initially charged for the offence of murder contrary to Section 187 of the Criminal Code Cap 10 Vol III, Laws of The Gambia.The particulars of the offence stated that Dawda Bah on the 2nd of August 2008, allegedly caused the death of one Cherno Jagne alias 'Chee boy' by stabbing him with a broken bottle on the neck at Perseverance Street in the C1ity of Banjul.
