Nigeria: Senate Holds Emergency Session Over INEC's N74 Billion Budget

Abuja — The Senate will cut short its two months recess on Tuesday, August 10 to consider the N74 billion additional request by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega.

The money would be used to produce a new register of voters and to conduct 2011general elections. The Senators will also, at the emergency plenary session, screen three additional ministerial nominees expected to be forwarded by President Goodluck Jonathan for confirmation.
