Gambia: Birth Registration Campaign Kicks-Off in NBR

The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in collaboration with Unicef last Monday launched a ten-day campaign on birth registration at the Governor's Office in Kerewan, North Bank Region (NBR).

In his opening remarks, the governor of NBR, Alhaji Eduwarr Seckan, thanked the Health Ministry and Unicef for the initiative. He highlighted the importance of birth registration, adding that the government of The Gambia has keen interest in its citizens and their welfare. According to him, since independence, there have been formulating laws and regulations that enhanced conducive environment for the general protection and welfare of citizens and aliens in the country.
