Eleven women from the West Africa Network for Peace Building and the Women in Peace Building Network are back in Liberia after completing a one month training workshop in Ghana.
The women who were drawn from Margibi, Montserrado, Bong, Nimba and Lofa Counties were trained in kente weaving, basket weaving, making of solar stove, recycling and jewelry at the Kokrobitery Institute.
Speaking Tuesday at WANEP/WIPNET Head Offices in Sinkor, The National Network Coordinator, Lindora Howard Diawara, praised the women for their determination to acquire some skills that will help themselves and their families and the country as a whole.
Mrs. Howard Diawara said their time in building peace can only be maintained once they can start doing something positive with their hands, and is proud of women for undergoing the training, though the time was short.
She disclosed that their training in Ghana was funded by Trust Africa which cost was put at Twenty Thousand United State Dollars, and disclosed that depending on what they will begin to do, will pave the way for them to go for advance training in the future.
Mrs. Howard Diawara told the women that going to Ghana for the training are the entry's way of empowering them to buttressing the Liberian Government's Poverty Reduction Strategy for them to assist in building the skills of WANEP/WIPNET women as well as other Liberian Women.
She then assured the women that the entity will work along with them in carrying out their plans of action, but cautioned them to make the difference.
Mrs. Howard Diawara indicated that plans are also been worked out to have instructors from the Kokrobitey Institute to come to Liberia to continue in their skills building capacities.
For her part, the Head of the women, Louise Tucolon lauded the leadership of the entity for given them the opportunity to be trained in various skills and called for additional training, because the one month was very short.
Meanwhile at the closing program, the women displayed several of items that were taught at the Kokrobitey Institute which including, recycle bags, chain and the solar cooking stove among others.

The eleven women who attended the training exercise are Louise Tucolon, Gamai Koko, Oliver Karmee, Hawa Sheriff, Largo Daigar, and Rose Wiah. Others are Assatu Sesay, Nancy Zoma, Henrietta Montor, Elfreda Cooper and Josephine Naimah.
