Nigeria/Guinea: Flying Eagles Ready to Fly Over Guinea

Flying Eagles coach, John Obuh has tipped his lads to fly over Guinea when both sides clash in an African Junior Championship first round second leg match in Conakry. To achieve this, he said his boys must be offensive-driven, throughout the span of the game.

The Nigerian side won the first leg 2-0 at the Abuja National Stadium two weeks back and need to avoid losing 3-0 to sail into the next round of the qualifying series for the Championship proper, taking place next year in Libya.

Although they lost the first leg, the Guineans were valiant in defeat as they took the game to the Eagles defence but falling short of getting the goal which would have placed them on a better pedestal of reaching the second round at the expense of the Nigerians.

Speaking before his team left Lagos for Accra, Ghana, from where they made a connecting flight to Conakry, Coach Obuh, expressed confidence in his lads ability to get the job done this weekend.

"We are approaching this match with all the seriousness that it deserves because we are aware that at this stage, a 3-0 defeat, would see us crashing out of the qualifiers and that is one thing that we are just not prepared to face.

"I am confident that my players would withstand the Guinean test because they know what it is at stake and do not want to get blown away this early in the qualifying series. It is not going to be an easy ride for us as we all saw how well the Guineans passed the ball during the first leg.

"But our 2-0 advantage is one strong factor that we have going for us but we would not get carried away with that because if they score us early, they would be charged to go for more, so our plan is to go on the attack", added the former Eaglets coach, who led Nigeria to the second position in last year's FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Abuja.
