Group of citizens of Nimba County have petitioned one of their brothers and sons Mr. Thomas Grupee to contest for the senatorial seat of the county in next year's general and presidential election.

Mr. Grupee is an executive United Nimba Citizen Council (UNICCO) in the US on a mission for the organization in the country. The petition ceremonies took place in Gnata City, Nimba County recently.

Presenting the petition on behalf of the groups, Emmanuel Wonleh said at a given epoch in every human history, there are days and time that a particular individual's contributions to humanity can be seen and recognized by a larger portion of a population.

Mr. Wonleh indicated that a conglomeration of Nimba citizens crossing the territorial landscape of the county have realized that a distinguished son of the county (Thomas Grupee) should be influenced and encouraged to engage in the county's leadership comes 2011.

He maintained that without any hesitation, "we the beneficiaries of your invaluable contributions believe that it is important that you participate in the 2011 election based on our convincing opinion that you will win landslide."

Predicated upon attested facts, Mr. Wonleh pointed out that based on the education achievement of Mr. Grupee in the United States, compounded by his reported continuous demonstration of extraordinary leadership skills in the Diaspora and enhanced by donation of scholarships to several disadvantaged Nimbanians in various Universities; they are convinced that he possesses the requisite credential for the county's highest office.

The petitioners while Mr. Grupee may not be willing to accept their request, it is compelling upon them to petition him to run for the senatorial seat. In response, Mr. Grupee said he came to represent United Nimba Citizen Council (UNICCO) and cannot engage in politics. However, according to him, he will set a date for his return to Liberia.

Meanwhile Mr. Grupee is encouraging the group to remain involved in the social and political development of Nimba County.
