Luanda — The Angolan head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, Wednesday, in Luanda, expressed to the executive secretary of the Commission of Gulf of Guinea, Miguel Trovoada, the availability of Angola to contribute to the drafting of the action plan of the sub-regional organisation.

The president guaranteed the support of Angola, in his capacity of acting chairperson of the Gulf of Guinea Commission, during a meeting he granted to Miguel Trovoada, at the Presidential Palace of Cidade Alta.

Speaking to press, after the meeting, the interlocutor said that he received from the president of the Republic "guarantees of availability and comprehension to assist the organisation to draft an action plan to help it growing".

During the session, the official told the President of the Republic on the current state of the Gulf of Guinea Commission. "I came to brief him on the current state of the organization. There is a ministerial conference to approve the budget, that is delayed.

The referred ministerial conference will discuss the matters about the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the sub-regional body, due to take place in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, in a date to be agreed on.

The meeting will reflect on the current moment of the sub-region and about peace conference, held last February.

According to Miguel Trovoada, there are financial constraints for the drafting of the organisation budget, as the approved financial plan has not been fully executed yet.

He affirmed, however, the member states of the organisation that includes Angola, Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Republic of Congo, Sao Tome and Principe, Gabon, Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, will increase their contributions this year.

The executive secretary added that the commission is concerned over the political instability in DRC and Nigeria, mainly in the Niger Delta region.

Angola took over the rotating chair of the organisation, last November, during the second Summit of Heads of State and Government.

The executive secretariat of the Gulf of Guinea Commission is headquartered in Luanda (Angola), since its foundation, in 1999.

The sub-regional African organisation works for cooperation and development, for prevention, management and resolution of conflicts linked to delimitation of borders, commercial and economic exploitation of natural riches, located in the territorial limits.
