Cape Verde: Luanda Governador Meets Cape Verde's President

Luanda — The governor of Luanda province, Francisca do Espírito Santo, on official visit to Praia city, Cape Verde, Wednesday held a courtesy meeting with the leader of the West African island nation, Pedro Pires and the prime minister, José Maria Neves.

According to a communiqué that reached Angop, the governor of Luanda also met with the minister of Decentralisation, Housing and Territory Planning, Sara Lopes.

Francisca do Espírito Santo also signed a protocol of understanding and cooperation with the chairperson of municipal chamber of Praia city, Ulisses Correia e Silva.

The press release adds that the Angolan delegation had already visited some areas of potential cooperation, outlined by the delegations from Luanda and Praia city, with highlight to culture, community school exchange, tourism, professional training and business approximation.

The governor of Luanda, according to the communiqué, underlined that more than the words are "the practical actions to near the two cities".

The Angolan team had the opportunity to visit some areas of urban expansion, housing, tourism and industry, whose steering plans are in their conclusion phases, and they may cooperate in some areas due to the experience acquired by Angola.

Memorial and historical sites, with stress to the former concentration camp of Tarrafal, were also visited.

The source stressed that the delegation of the Provincial Government of Luanda is expected to end on Thursday the official visit to Praia city.
