The MDC led by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai has confirmed that it has reached agreement with ZANU PF on the sharing of posts for provincial governors.
An Associated Press report on Friday quoted spokesman Nelson Chamisa saying their party would get 5 governorships, ZANU PF 4 and the Mutambara MDC 1, under a formula previously agreed to. The report further stated that Mugabe would swear in the governors on the 24th August.
The timing of the announcement of the agreement, a few days before a SADC summit in Namibia, would appear to be a calculated attempt by ZANU PF to take the sting out of criticism for its failure to honour the September 2008 power sharing deal. Several times Mugabe has given the impression he would swear in the MDC governors Tsvangirai had appointed, but each time nothing materialized.
Analysts continue to remain concerned that the MDC is focusing on minor issues to do with positions in government, instead of tackling the very serious issue of military generals blocking any transfer of power when Mugabe loses elections. The violence seen during the constitutional outreach has already sent ominous signs of even worse violence to come, should elections be called.

These military leaders may have all the power power to block power transfers, but they must know that that Mugabe will not live forever. They are building a time bomb for themselves. Should anything happen to Magabe, they will find themselves out of the water. This also shows shows their immaturity to protect somebody like Mugabe in such a way that they are authonticating his mandate to take Zimbabwe as his private estate. How could people in their total faculties give away a country to family which does not have a history of having ruled any village. Even if these military leaders hope to die with Mugabe, what will become of their families because it will be the very people who are supporting ZANUPF now who will take the first step to redress the inequalities that have been created by the party they strongly support. You must wake from the dream guys. You are no longer fighting the Racist rigime but you are supposed to developing your nation which you claim you fought for.
Sijabulisod;
Zimbabwe's military leaders do not "claim to have fought for" the freedom and independence of this country but they actually, personally and severally fought for this country. They suffered in the bushes of Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Zambia for nearly 16 years fighting the illegal, racist, oppressive, murderous, barbaric,evil and satanic regime of one-eyed Ian Douglas Smith.
Every Zimbabwean, no matter what level they are in society, when they were born and how much lucre they may be getting to demonized their country and those that fought for it, should NOT forget, thus, should NEVER EVER doubt, that this country was fought for and, therefore, came through blood - Zimbabwe ndeye ropa vakomana.
We should realize that many people (thousands upon thousand of black Zimbabweans) were brutally massacred by barbaric Boers not only during the Second Chimurenga but also during the First Chimurenga. There is nothing (no amount of cash) we can give to these people that can adequately pay for the suffering they went through. The bombing, the diseases, the hunger, you name it; they went through all that and are living witnesses and examples of what suffering is.
When they are doing whatever they do, they are doing it for you just as they did it for you yesterday when they sacrificed their lives to join the struggle to liberated you from colonial bondage. There is no way they could leave this country to go to the dogs while they watch. You can do that when they are all dead; it will be the problem of those running the country at that time - it is called shauri yako (It is you problem you have to deal with it)!
You do not know better than them that everybody will one day leave this earth and join God somewhere up there. They saw death with their own eyes when they lost comrades, friends and relatives at Chomoio, Tembwe, Mukushi, Muchenedzi, Chibabava, Mabvudzi and many other places in Zimbabwe and outside the country. Thus, to suggest that these living heroes of the Chimurenga Ware are blinding supporting President Mugabe is to belittle the role they played well before President Mugabe joined them in Mozambique.
Remember that in doing whatever they do they are not supporting President Mugabe as an individual, they are supporting, first and foremost, the revolutionary party whose founding principles, values and goals brought about the independence and freedom you are enjoying as you write the garbage you post on here. Secondly, they support anyone who stands by and for those ideals consistently and persistently.
If Tsvangirai repents today and abandons the sellout route he has taken, the freedom fighters in the Army, Police, Prison Service and all war veterans, will definitely and without any doubt support him with their own flesh and blood and in doing so they won't be supporting Tsvangirai per se but will be supporting what he stands for.
Remember that there was and still is a CENTRAL REASON for going to war and it is this REASON that they will forever protect no matter what people like you may say. You may scold them or demonize them, calling them names like "immature" they will remain focused on the ball, i.e., the reason for going to war and will remain so until they pass the bat to the next generation who should inherit a Zimbabwe that is Totally Liberated (in the true sense of the word) and 100% Empowered.
