Warri — PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan has charged Christians and Muslims to unite in the fight against retrogressive forces to enable Nigeria move forward and take its rightful place in the comity of nations.
The President gave this charge, weekend, at Ogbobagbene, the home town of the Minister of the Niger Delta Ministry, Elder Godsday Orubebe, in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, during the formal commissioning and dedication of the multi-million naira Glory Sanctuary Christian Centre, GSCC, built by the Minister.
Represented by the Minister of State for Communications, Mr. Labaran Maku, the President said both religions preach and practice the same Godly virtues, and had similar code of human conduct, saying there was the need for both religious bodies to work together to defeat the evil designs of Satan for the overall benefit of the country, especially at this Ramadam period.
He commended Elder Orubebe for deeming it fit to establish the Christian Centre in the riverine area.
Earlier in his opening remarks, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, said the centre was most befitting for the true worship of God Almighty, saying that Elder Orubebe has made God and Christians proud in the country as he has always put God first in all his works.
While paying glowing tribute to the Minister, the CAN President charged all those who God have showered his mercies to emulate Orubebe wherever they may be by building worship centres for the purpose of furthering Gods' work and defeating evil forces in the entire country in particular and Niger Delta in general.
He prayed that God continues to shower His mercies on the minister for always remembering Him, saying that the light of God will never depart from him.
In his remarks, Elder Orubebe said the GSCC was established in 2009 in fulfillment of his commitment to the work of God, his people, Nigeria and humanity, adding that the commissioning and dedication of the edifice was a culmination of a vision given to him years ago by God when he was still a struggling man and thanked God for making him achieve the dream.
