Guinea: President Sirleaf Discusses Transition With Guinean Authorities

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, arrived Tuesday, August 17, for a one day working visit, to consult with the authorities and the key election contestants of Guinea on the satisfactory electoral process that is underway in that country.

The Liberian leader, who currently chairs the Mano River Union sub-regional grouping, will be joined in the consultations by Sierra Leonean President Ernest Bai Koroma, according to an Executive Mansion release.

During the one day consultations, the Mano River Union leaders will commend the Guinean authorities and people for the smooth transition process taking place, and encourage Guineans to keep the process on course.

During President Johnson Sirleaf's absence from the country, the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Dr. Edward McClain will, as Chairman of the Cabinet, administer the affairs of Government in consultation with the Vice President, Honorable Joseph N. Boakai.
