Uganda: KCC Shines in Burundi as Kyambogo Warriors Exit

Kampala — KCC Leopards gave Ugandans something to be proud about when they registered the country's second win by beating Tanzania's Jeshi Stars 71-68 on Tuesday evening at the Zone V club championships in Bujumbura.

They outs cored Jeshi 13-7 in the first quarter but remained inconsistent in the second after putting up only 15-30. Annet Nakiwu, Becky Akullo and Carol Nantalo contributed 14, 7 and 6 points of the 29 in the third quarter to beat Jeshi who only managed 20.

Meanwhile, the Kyambogo Warriors yesterday bowed out of the tournament when they lost their third game to CSK. Defending champions Ssaku SS breezed to the semi-finals of the on going Schools basketball championship yesterday.

Andrew Katushabe and Derrick Ongom sunk 19 and 17 points as the Luwero champions overrun Jinja SS 61-34. The victory set up Jinja in a semi-final clash against Old Kampala SS in a repeat of last years semi-finals. In the other quarterfinal, Lubiri beat Manjasi 80-78.
