A release from Firestone indicates that a tapper of Firestone Liberia assigned in Division 44 who was allegedly abducted by illicit tappers on August 4, 2010, resurfaced and has been apprehended by officers of the Liberia National Police in Saclepea, Nimba County.
Speaking in Harbel on Tuesday, August 17, 2010, following his arrest, James Flomo told newsmen and other security personnel that the whole episode was faked by him and his cousin, Emmanuel Sumo, with the sole intent of receiving some cash and other benefits from the management of Firestone Liberia.
According to the culprit, he and Emmanuel planned and executed their deal because of what he referred to as "Family pressure".
"I myself have only three children; but the rest of the children you see to my house are children of my relatives and I cannot easily meet all of their needs." Mr. Flomo told interrogators in Harbel. He also asserted that "I told Emmanuel Sumo to handcuff me, blindfold me and write the letter you met on the scene. I stabbed him (Emmanuel Sumo) on the back to make you believe that it was the doing of illicit tappers."
The release also furthered that the alleged aductee admitted that no one molested him during the course of performing his assigned task within the vicinity of Tank # 13-B in Division 44 as he alleged. Tapper Flomo narrated that the night before their plan was hatched, he slept out of his own house stressing that "My wife was not aware of our plan." Mr. Flomo noted that after they committed the act, he left his accomplice, Emmanuel Sumo, and went to Kakata from where he made his way to his elder sister who resides in Saclepea where he was later arrested by security personnel. He further informed investigators that he had planned to reach as far as the Ivory Coast.
Meanwhile, residents and employees spoken to have condemned the fake incident that was concocted and carefully executed by employee James Flomo of Division 44. The alleged incident created an unnecessary fear and tension within the concession area. Concluding, the Management of Firestone Liberia is commending the authorities of the Liberian National Police for their swift and timely intervention, thereby bringing the alleged abductee case to a successful conclusion.
