Uganda: Families Want Compensation for Demolished Buildings

At least 110 families at Mutukula border town in Rakai District have attacked the government over alleged failure to compensate them for their commercial buildings that were demolished to pave way for the town's re-development.

The residents led by Mr Dominic Kaganda, said the Ministry of Works and Transport evicted them from their land and promised to compensate them in August last year.

Ms Suzan Kataike, the ministry's spokesperson, said Shs5 billion has been secured for the town's re-construction and compensation of residents.
