Nigeria: Nwakobi Returns With a Bang

Lagos — Among contemporary foreign-based Nigerian artists today, the trend is to return home to do what they know best. Perhaps backed by the saying that charity begins at home, most artists prefer doing music back at home, the biting challenges notwithstanding. One of such returnees is Nwakobi.

Going with the real name, Timothy Myles Nwakobi, the American rapper, singer and a songwriter was born in Los Angeles, California, on May 24, 1987. Though he was born in California, Nwakobi as he prefers, says his brand of music is packed with an African appeal. He comes from a music- inclined family on his mother's side.

The Kanye West look-alike says he began gaining interest in music around the age of eight. He wrote his first song Good bye, inspired by his parents' divorce. Since then, a pen and pad has always been glued to his hands. Nwakobi is currently working on his album with award winning producers, ID Cabasa and Cobhams. Nwakobi says his music is always inspired by day to day encounters that occur in life, issues that everyday people experience. His coming back to Nigeria, he says, is with a mission to put Nigeria music on the global map and the yet untitled album will drop, according to him, in the first quarter of next year in Nigeria and in the United States of America.

Nwakobi also said Nigerians should watch out for his new hot singles packed with African vibes and coupled with collaboration with world famous rap artiste Snoop Dogg before the end of the year.

Nwakobi was the name given to him by his father from his tender years to date; he refuses to call him anything besides just that which became the inspiration for his actual stage name. It isn't easy to classify his music as strictly rap, because he also displays a little Pop and R&B with Afro inspiration. Along with Mr. Wakobi's versatile, commercial hip-hop and main stream capabilities, he also exposes his entrepreneurial and professional skills through the establishments of the; South East Independent Artist Summit, South East Independent Tour and the South East Unsigned Artist Showcase. Mr.Wakobi's music is always inspired by day to day encounters that occur in life, that everyday people experience. Mr. Wakobi prides himself in making music that makes people feel good, such as his hot new single for the ladies titled Your Day. You can find Mr.Wakobi in Atlanta, Georgia, hard at work on his musical career and grand business ventures. With inspiration at the top of his agenda and success as the greatest revenge, you can expect much more from Mr.Wakobi in the near future.
