Uganda: Jailed Muslims Want Better Conditions

Kampala — Muslim prisoners held at Ssaza Prison in Mityana district have asked their leaders to lobby the Government to create better conditions to enable them fast and hold prayers regularly.

The prisoners said although they were trying to fast during Ramadhan, the conditions in prison did not favour them. They were meeting the Mityana and Mubende district Muslim leaders recently. "We wear short clothes which are not accepted during prayers. We request that we be given trousers for prayers," said a prisoner only identified as Rashid.
