Mni — The theme of the twenty fifth anniversary conference of the Federation of Muslim Women's Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) was carefully selected to contribute to the debate on good governance in Nigeria.

This is particularly timely as the country prepares for an election that is scheduled to take place early next year. In her welcome address at the event which held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, on August 6 2010, the National Amirah of FOMWAN Mrs. Maryam Idris Othman said the theme was chosen to enable participants "reflect on the experiences of the conscientious servant leaders of our great religion and explore established models as conceptualised in the values of fairness, justice and common good. We hope through this to contribute to the economic development of our great nation." The keynote address titled Leadership and Good Governance in Islam was presented by the Governor of the Central Bank, Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
