Luanda — The National Committee for Prevention of Maternal Deaths was created Friday, at Talatona Convention Centre in Luanda, in an act witnessed by the deputy president of Angola, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos.
The minister for Family and Women Promotion, Genoveva Lino, was appointed chairperson of the committee, while the Health Minister, Jose Van-Dunem, as vice president.
The officials are committed to doing everything to help the country to improve maternal mortality rates.
There was also launched Accelerated Reduction of Maternal and Infant Mortality, to reduce deaths of women and children.
