Angola: Minister Calls for Building of Community Centres

Menongue — Angola's minister of Social Welfare, João Baptista Kussumua, Friday, in Menongue, urged the government of Kuando Kubango to build, in each district of this province, two child community centres, such as small social services and of local competence.

According to the official, who was speaking at the meeting with local government members and partners, his ministry advised, at national level, the construction of child community centres, as units that should assist children who live far from the cities.

"We would like to inform you, mister governor, that it is necessary to build, at least, two child centres in every district. I hope that in Menongue there can be built one or two crèches", suggested the minister.

João Baptista Kussumua added that these child community centres are small equipments that are part of the competences of the provincial government.

The official expressed the intention of Kuando Kubango's government to include this programme in the Public Investments Projects (PIP) of 2011, aiming its execution.

According to the government official, the social area matters the all society, starting from the sectors of health, education, in which the directors of the referred institutions should present well structured information so that the government of Kuando Kubango reconsider them.

For this purpose, João Baptista Kussumua called on the provincial director of the Social Welfare Ministry (Minars), Modesta Ngueve, to control her work team, and it will only be part of the ministry the delivery of technical support so that the social area can be more visualised in the southern province.

The government minister, who ends this afternoon his two-day work to Kuando Kubango, has already visited the third age home, social houses for disabled people and the vulnerable population, in the district of Mavinga.
