Windhoek — NPL chief executive officer and FIFA regional instructor, Mathew Haikali, jetted out of the country last Friday en route for Zambia.
The dreadlocked football administrator has been bestowed the distinct honour of conducting a course on Administration and Management for local clubs in Zambia.
The 5-day course is sponsored by the world's football governing body FIFA, and will be held in the Zambian capital, Lusaka.
Haikali was drafted as a facilitator as part of the FIFA Development Office in Gaborone, dealing with capacity-building programmes for clubs and various leagues in the region.
"It is a good opportunity for me to share my expertise with other colleagues in the region, as I will be working closely with other regional instructors from Zambia and Uganda. This can only assist in enhancing our capacity in the Southern African Region," said Haikali.
Several representatives from first division clubs in the Zambian league will be among the chief beneficiaries.
Participants will be taken through the standard member association course similar to the one that was recently held in Namibia for regional chairpersons.
A similar course is earmarked for club secretaries attached to clubs campaigning in the MTC NPL, slated for November later this year.
"We are only happy to have somebody of his calibre and expertise in our midst. As a league, we are very lucky to have him and any opportunity he gets to go abroad and gain more experience will only add value to our league," commented NPL chairman, Johnny Doeseb.
