The second in the series of the Graphic Business Roundtable Forum comes off today at the Alisa Hotel. It is on the theme, Ghana's Emerging Oil Economy: Prospects and Challenges.
The forum, which also coincides with the 60th anniversary celebration of Graphic Communications Group Limited, publishers of the country's leading brands of newspapers, is expected to assemble more than 350 high-profile participants drawn from the oil and gas sector, seasoned economists and bankers, other corporate leaders and politicians.
The Vice-President, Mr John Dramani Mahama, will deliver the keynote address. The forum comes at the time when the country is expecting to drill its first oil in commercial quantity from the Jubilee Oil Fields by the last quarter of this year.
The first session would tackle the theme: Effective Utilisation of Oil Revenue: Local Content, Transparency and Accountability to be delivered by Mr Ken Ofori Atta, Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of Data Bank.
It will be chaired by the Chief Executive Officer of UT Bank, Mr Prince Kofi Amoabeng, the Most Respected CEO in the country. The second session would be on the theme: "Addressing Environmental and Security Concerns: Legal Frameworks, Civil Society and Community Issues", and will also be delivered by Dr Kwesi Aning, a security analyst at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre.
Dr Joyce Aryee, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, will chair that session.
The last session, on the theme: "Shared Best Practice in Oil Management- Nigeria's Experience", will have Mr Charles Cofie, the Chief Executive Officer of Unilever Ghana and President of the Ghana Employers Association, as the chairperson.
The paper will be presented by Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, the Nigerian High Commissioner in Ghana.
In all the presentations, there will be three discussants for each subject area, who have also been carefully selected to throw more light on the various subject areas.
The discussants will come from the Attorney General's Office, the financial and the environmental sectors, as well as operators in the industry.
