The Liberian National Culture troupe will today showcase the country culture and talent at the Expo 2010 taking place in Shanghai, China.
Millions of people from more than 200 countries and organizations attending the auspicious occasion will witness the event.
The Expo 2010, taking place in Shanghai, is an event that aimed at exploring the full potential of urban life in the 21st Century.
The Chinese people are expected to present to the world a successful splendid and unforgettable exposition at the event.
The event will attract over 200 nations and international organization as well as 70 million visitors from home and abroad.
Liberia's Information Minister Cletus Sieh (Vice Chair of Expo 2010) said August 23, 2010 is the day set aside for the world to watch Liberia display its talents through dances and songs.
He said this indicates that Liberia has come alive again, and a meaning is being given once more to the country's national culture troupe.
"This means that our country is rising again; it means we are no longer looked upon," Minister Sieh of Liberia's position at Expo 2010.
"No Longer are we looked down upon, we are highly respected," he said.
Liberia's Vice President, Joseph N. Boakai, who heads the country's 38-member delegation, arrived last Wednesday evening in Guangzhou Province, China for the event.
According to a dispatch from Journalist Augustus D.R. Bortue, who is also part of the delegation, Vice President Boakai, upon arrival, was given a red carpet welcome by officials of the Chinese Government, including the Chinese Ambassador accredited to Liberia, Zhou Yuxiao as well as Liberia's Ambassador to China, Neh Dukuly Tolbert and embassy staff.
Early Thursday morning, Vice President Boakai visited the Guangzhou Baiyun Agriculture Base and Dongsheng Farm.
During his visit to Guangzhou Baiyun Agriculture Base and Dongshen Farm respectively, the Vice President was taken on a guided tour where he witnessed the processing of varieties of fruits and vegetables among others.
Giving his impression of his visit to these areas, he described the works of the Chinese in agriculture as "wonderful".
"If we, Liberians, tap from the Chinese, I believe it will greatly improve our living condition," he said while viewing varieties of vegetables at Dongsheng Farm.
The Vice President, who himself is an agriculturalist, reiterated his calls for his fellow compatriots to invest in the oil, stressing it will make Liberia self sufficient in food production.
Following the tour, Vice President Boakai met with Liberian nationals in Guangzhou and officials of the Guangdong Province.
At separate interactions, he expressed the Liberian Government's unflinching support in promoting education as well as the existing relations between Liberia and China.
Meanwhile, the Vice President on Friday went to Foshan City, which is located in the mid-south of Guangdong Province, where he visited Antoni Knitting Co. Ltd, Foshan Successwow Furniture C., Ltd and Foshan Municipal Government.
Guangdong is considered the center of politics, science and technology, education, and culture of the Guangdong Province.
Known as the "South Gateway to China", Guangzhou is located on the northern edge of the Pearl River Delta, adjacent to Hong Kong, Macao, and the South China Sea.
It is a city with a long history of over 2,200 years and great culture heritage.
