Angola: Vice President Leaves for Bujumbura

Luanda — The Angolan Vice President, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, left on Wednesday for Burundi's capital city, Bujumbura, so as to attend the inauguration ceremony of Pierre Nkurunzinza to post of Head of State of that country.

Pierre Nkurunzinza was re-elected as president of Burundi on June 2010. Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos will represent the Angolan President, José Eduardo dos Santos, in the ceremony which is scheduled for Thursday. Though Angola does not have an embassy in Bujumbura city yet, the trip of the Vice President is awaited with a lot of expectation.

The anxiety is justified just because of the active role that Angola has been playing in the regional and international forums for the pacification of the Great Lakes region, where Burundi is integrated.
