President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf will this week submit a report to the National Legislature on the implementation and recommendations of the controversial Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
According to the Executive Mansion, a number of civil society groups constituted by the President to review the TRC report and suggest a way forward have now submitted their report to the President.
Executive Mansion: "The President is keen to ensure that a report to the National Legislature on the TRC report contains v issues for the lawmakers' consideration. Once the legislators receive the document, more details will be provided to the public."
The TRC recommended that a thirty years ban be imposed on the president from holding public office because of their role in the war. Under Article 10, Section 48 of the TRC act, the president is to report to the national legislature within three months after receiving the TRC report and on a quarterly basis after the implementation of the commission.
